Too poor quality to be a serious video recorder, too expensive to be a novelty gift. - 31 Oct 2008

I am genuinely astonished by the number of glowing reports on this product. This is in fact an absolute piece of rubbish. Yes it's very easy to use and, can literally be used within seconds of picking it up without having to spend hours reading a manual.
However, as the only function it is required to do is record video, you would think it would be pretty good. Sadly, the quality is so bad I can't believe that Amazon (or anybody else for that matter) can charge seventy quid for it. When footage is played back on its tiny screen it looks fine. However, use the supplied cables and hook it up to your TV and it looks dreadful. It's just as bad on a PC. I have seen far better video footage on numerous camera phones than this. For just a few more quid it's easy to pick up a dedicated video camera. Yes they are bigger but, if you want to be able to record things you will later cherish, surely its better to have good quality footage, rather than something that is jerky, graining and virtually unwatchable.

This little gem is cheaper than the much-hyped Flip Video, but does the same job better. I returned a Flip Video as the provided software kept crashing. No such probs with Busbi hardware or software. It too has a flip out USB plug for easy file transfer into your PC USB2 port. If you are looking for HD, then you will be disappointed, (and should see your counselor for help finding your common sense ...) but I find playback entirely adequate on the HQ setting using full screen on a PC. You can easily import the AVI generated files into Windows Movie Maker, or, use the provided software. If I was to gripe, I'd like more than the basic 2x zoom, and the viewing screen can get overwhelmed in bright sunlight (hence 4 star rating), but otherwise, portability and good battery life using 2 decent quality AA cells makes this a winner.

Worth every penny. - 23 Jul 2008

In America, this product is sold under the name "Small Wonder" and I have to say, it is very aptly named. This tiny superlightweight pocket sized camcorder is a joy to own. It produces video comparable to VHS quality camcorders and can record half an hours video of this quality, or 1 hours video at a quality comparable to LP mode VHS. With the addition of a 2 Gb smart media card, tis can be increased to 5 hours and 10 hours of quality as already stated. It is so easy to use, you don't even need to read the manual. The unit can be played back on a normal TV set and also by plugging the USB lead into a photoframe if you have one and the quality is just fine. This camera really excells itself when used to produce video for playback on a computer or for Emailing of for posting on You Tube, Facebook, Myspace etc. Its amazingly simple and you just plug the USB into your computer and away you go. You don't need to install any software on your computer at all as its all built into the camera. Its so easy to edit your movies, join clps together, cut out unwanted bits etc. The camera gives you the choice to either output the unedited video files straight to the PC in full quality or as a ready made movie and also to export to a video sharing site and export as Email. Its the simplest camcorder I have ever owned and I have tested it and obtained excellent results in bright sunlight, cloudy day, indoors with light from a compact flourescent lamp and all works just fine. If I have one gripe with the camera, its that the 2 times zoom is digital and not optical so it is next to useless as it degrades picture quality somewhat in use. Its OK and does work where you cannot get close to whatever you are recording, but best not used if possible. The sound is excellent too and battery useage is fine if you buy good quality batteries. The LCD screen has a tendency to wash out in very bright sunlight but most LCDs do so in bright sunlight you are best to shade the LCD screen with your hand and then you can see it just fine. Do I regret buying it? heck no! Its a lovely camera and great value for money.

Busbi Video Plus Camcorder - 18 Jul 2008

I already have three camcorders of different ages, as well as a video recording function on my SE P990i, and I should like to buy an HD camcorder: I am not a novice.

The Busbi Video Plus Camcorder is a kind of 'Amstrad' camcorder - unadorned with bells and whistles, but extremely easy to use, and represents good value for money. It feels like using a cellphone to record video, but the resulting images are far superior. The control buttons are completely intuitive: we have not yet opened the instruction manual. My wife and my daughter's care worker have also been using the camcorder to make short videos without instruction.

The picture quality is fine and stable, although the picture becomes grainy in poor light. The colours are good. The 2x zoom is useful for framing, although being digital not optical results in some loss of image quality. The sound recording from the internal microphone is impressive.

Linking the camcorder's bundled short USB cable to a digital photoframe, we were able to watch our video clips with ease. Connecting the camcorder's bundled video cable to the television was equally straightforward and satisfactory.

I used the camcorder's USB port and the camcorder's own (presumably flash-loaded) excellent software to download the 11 video clips we have made: amazingly straightforward. The camcorder creates .AVI files, at about 20 MB / minute when set on HQ (high quality). I bought a 2GB flash memory card to support the camcorder's onboard 500 MB. Video clips can be saved to the flash card for removal and loading directly into a PC. Just to complete the process, I intend shortly to edit and upload onto my YouTube channel a short movie based on some of the clips.

Reservations:
1) There is no lens cover.
2) The monitor screen swivels only around one axis - for example, to record oneself, and not around two axes - useful, for example when filming over the heads of people, or when shooting from close to the floor.

Uncertainties:
1) How long will the batteries last? I shall be happy if they can do a day's tourist filming.
2) How long will the camcorder continue to function? I shall be happy provided it lasts a full 12 months.
3) How robust is the camcorder? After all, most of us have dropped a cellphone at least once

For the time being, we are very happy with the Busbi Video Plus Camcorder. Should things start to go wrong, I shall write another posting to set the record straight. I award it five stars not because it boasts a high specification, but because it is highly functional, easy to use, and at GBP70 (now reduced to GBP65) it represents very good value for money.

Not what I expected!!!!! - 12 Jul 2008

I wanted to buy a small camcorder to carry with me at all times so as not to miss out on a filming opportunity. The reviews were all good for this small point & shoot and yes it is very easy to use, but when viewed on the tv the quality is awful even set on HQ, same awful quality on the pc aswell except okish when viewed no bigger than 5"x5" screen!!!
All in all I'm very disappointed and would like to return this camcorder back to where it came from!!!!
