I had this camera for 18 months and it started playing up when i was on Holiday. The screen was saying Lens Cap is still on when it wasn't... you can play old tapes etc but just cant film anything... Contacted JVC whom have asked to send them my receipt, guarentee, amongst a few other things and said that they would fix it free of charge if i send it off to them (thanks) as they are aware of this "COMMON" problem with a host of cameras they have made..

I recently purchased this camera used on amazon at a very good price and i was really surprised at its wide range of features and functions! i was especially impressed with its faders (used for changing scenes) you have the choice of wipe/scroll/shutter etc rather than just the standard fade to black, it makes your home made movies look very professional!! The 2.5 ins LCD screen is very clear, but noticed that the viewfinder was black and white (makes no difference to me as i use the screen) The camera itself it very compact and fairly lightweight. There are two shooting modes you can use, AUTOMATIC mode is perfect if you are a beginner, all modes are pre-set, and MANUAL mode if you are a bit more advanced and like to have a play around with the settings. overall a great camera and still worth paying full price for if you are not fortunate enough like me to be able to purchase one second hand.

I wanted a basic digital camcorder at an affordable cost and reasonably good features. I like to record anything and everything around me so that I can show it to my parents and family who live far away in India to show them how it is like in UK. I always wanted to show them how does everything look and sound around here? Etc.

This is when I came around this camcorder on Amazone.com. This is absolutely an excellent buy. First of all, it is a very small portable tiny mini camcorder. I used to like Sony PC103, 105 etc. mainly because of its small size but could not afford it. But this has proven to be just the right choice for me.

The video quality is excellent. The 16 bit stereo sound is just the right combination that anyone would expect. I have bought it just 2 weeks back and haven’t explored much complex features. Still I am satisfied with the Auto mode. Though night scope is not of use in total darkness but slightest light makes the picture better than any other nightshot camcorders. As it tries to pick up the actual natural colour and not the green coloured picture.

The zoom is good till 1-16X optical and 40X digital. Later on the slightest hand movement vibrates the picture. But I believe that is true with any camcorder. The use of tripod might be the right solution for it then.

Its controls are placed at the rear of the camcorder so that it can easily be controlled with the thumb. The controls are quite delicate and different than other camcorders of this type. But with time I have got so used to it that won’t like any other camcorder controls.

Tape loading is slightly tricky. It’s located on the ground facing side.

Overall, The video quality is excellent. USB streaming is a plus. All the required cables are included with the package. Even the software supplied along with it is good looking at the price. The only hind side is the lack of memory card drive.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to have a handy digital camcorder at lower price.

For the price it is exceptional. Sits in the palm of your hand and easy to get around, no cumbersome bag. Good zoom and you can watch what you have recorded on the LCD monitor with sound. Overall it is excellent.
