The good thing about this camera is its size - it is extremely small and fits easily into a shirt pocket. This is a big plus if you want something that is portable. I was also quite impressed with the sound quality from this camera.
However, overall I was disappointed with the camera - particularly in relation to the picture quality which I thought was very poor. I don't know how this camera compares to other cameras in this price range, but I had expected a crisper clearer image. I also found some of the controls on the camera rather small and fiddly to use.
At the end of the day the most important thing about a camera is that it produces decent quality images, I wasn't satisfied with the quality from this camera. I returned it to Amazon and got a full refund, and am now looking at buying the Panasonic HDC SD9 - it costs a lot more, but gives excellent results. As more and more people buy High Definition Tv's, it seems sensible to buy a camera that will produce video that will look good on HD Tv's in the years to come. I didn't feel the SDR S7 would meet this requirement.

First, thanks to Amazon for supurb delivery once again. As for the sd7 camcorder, well its great and easy to use once you get used to how small it is. Stills are not as good as from my digital camera, but the video quality is very good while in mpg4 format. The software in not as user friendly and needs learning, but once you spend the time to master it, then the results are pleasing. Uploading to sites like dailymotion and youtube in mpg4 takes a long time, so its worth converting to asf when saving. Overall... a very good buy.

Bought this once I had returned the truly shocking Aiptek AHD200 for a refund (see other reviews). This is much more like the decent budget camera I was after. It's never going to compete with a £400-£500 camera, but I never expected it to. Like a lot of people I just wanted a camera that I could carry in a pocket & take passable 30 second-1 minute videos of the kids playing sports & holidays. This does the job fine, and actually feels like a proper video camera (where the Aiptek felt like a cr@p kids toy). Battery life is good enough, pictures are decent quality, sound is OK, and the 'quick-start' function is really useful.
Software which comes with the camera is good, though for reasons I can't fathom the video is jerky in Windows Picture Viewer, whilst being fine on the Panasonic software (?). All in all, very pleased & would recommend to anyone who wants a basic, sub £200 camera for everyday recording.

I bought a Canon camcorder only 6 months ago and never really got on with it as it was not really small enough to fit in a pocket and only recorded for 30 minutes onto mini dvds so I decided to get this tiny Panasonic and it is FANTASTIC! I took it to Sri Lanka on my holiday and with an 8gb SDHC memory stick I recorded for over 4 hours. It is so light and small that you can take it anywhere, it is up and running in seconds, and by the end of the holiday everyone in the group was taking the model number and wanting to get one too. It was smaller than most people's digital still camera. The quality is great and with the digital zoom going up to 700x with a steady hand I could shoot fruit bats that the others could not even see at the top of a tree in the next field! You will definitely not regret buying one.

First camcorder that I've bought and it works great. Super compact size, very light and with an 8GB card you can get a couple of hours of storage. Unlike DV and tape camcorders, it is extremely simple to edit and merge clips on a PC or Mac. Most impressively it starts up in seconds and the sound is very good, even when zoomed in.
