We bought this camera June 2006 just before our baby was born. Brilliant easy to use machine - have had no problems whatsoever. My Dad was very up on his electronic gadgets and was very impressed with this. Very easy to record and erase stuff. Great zoom and good sound too. Nice and compact and easy to carry around. Battery life is very good too. Yes buy this little machine and you will have great fun with no stress!
Many disappointments! - 04 Sep 2007

We bought this DVD camcorder before our wedding last year, with the intention of recording and editing our own wedding video. We got it well in advance of the wedding so that we would be familiar with it before the big day. We were no experts on video cameras, but I had good experiences with other Panasonic products so that was the deciding factor when we opted for this model over other manufacturer's.
Right from the start we had problems. The very first disc which we had recorded failed to finalize properly and would not play. After purchasing data recovery software I was able to recover this disc, but it left us very anxious about whether we should use it for the wedding.
We decided to perservere with it, and the next couple of disc's did not give us any problems.
Then came the wedding video. We had friends take the camera and video the various parts of the wedding. All went well and we thought everything had recorded properly. Then we tried to finalise the disc's, and one of them did not finalise properly. This was not a good start to our honeymoon, as we thought half of the wedding had been "lost"! When we returned home I was able to recover most of the video with the data recovery software, but the cake cutting scene was lost forever.
This year we went on holiday to Disneylend, and while there I dropped the camera, and the entire contents of a disc were lost. I know this was careless of me, but how did dropping it erase the disc??
All these experiences have left me with a very negatve view on this camera, and if I could go back and choose a differnt one, I would. Whether the DVD recording format is at fault, or this camera model alone, I do not know. Either way, I cannot recommend this camera to anyone.
