I had to reply to the previous review who mentioned the lack of tapes and memory cards. If you bought a video recorder or a dvd player you would not expect to get videos or dvds to use in it. There is no mention that these things are required because most people have the wit to realise they need them.
I love my 363 and would recommend it

Bought the camera for daughters birthay. Thought all we needed was in the box. It would not work because we had no tape. Also we discovered there was a digital memory card slot. This was not supplied so still we could not use. Had then extreme difficulty working out exactly what we needed to get going. Aparently an SD memory card is needed. My wife asked someone in her work. There was no information available in the product description as to the extras we needed to get the camera going. This is Amazons fault. Also the list of tecnical features is meaningless to the buyer who doesnt understand the jargon. I am totally frustrated because the manual isn't easy to follow and I still dont know exactly what I need. Ill have to take it to a camera shop which kind of renders the benefit of buying from Amazon useless!

This camera is great. For a camcorder novice like me it has everything to just point and shoot straight out of the box. Even as a typical bloke, ie I didn't read the instructions, I was still able to set up, record and display a decent picture on the TV. No probelms. There's plenty of extra's to play with and add effects. The menu system is easy to use and fairly intuitive. The camera itself is light and small with a nice well put together feel. Price for price, this seems to be the best on the market and it's not made by some cheap company that has no background, it's quality at a normal persons budget. The bundled software is fine and, at first glance anyway, is easy to use. Shame there's no case or firewire included but never mind.
I only have two gripes. First the buttons must be designed for someone with freakishly long thumbs and very short fingers. Either that or my hand is very oddly shaped! Second is Amazon's recommeded spare battery is not right! If you want to order a spare then you need a SB-LSM80 or SB-LSM160. DO NOT order the HAMA battery recommeded by the good people at Amazon. I did and now have to return it. Good news is that the correct spare is a third of the price of the HAMA battery.
