Fantastic - 11 Aug 2007

This is a fantastic Videocamera - I love it. Video your most presious moments with this lovely, light machine. Watch it on DVDs, after converting them. Top quality films and photos. This is really easy to use and I recommend this to anyone, whatever age.
It also takes photos - great.
This is really good for holidays, partys, sports day etc.
It also has special effects built in: Sepia, Negative Art, Mossic, Black and White etc!
I would also like to comment on another review by 'Harish,Guildford'
He/She says that there was an error message, so he could not download and convert his/her videos to DVD. Well, sir/madam, you evidently have not downloaded the software properly! Either that, or your computer is rubbish.
This is the best camera ever!!!!!
Sony Quality At A Reasonable Price - 08 Mar 2007

After researching what camera to buy and looking in several retailers and on various websites (retailers and manufacturers) I decided that this camera would do what I wanted and in fact boasts better features than the newer model(s) that appear to have been marketed to replace it.
I haven't been disappointed: Camera itself is sony quality. Supplied software worked for me but its worth considering getting a firewire port and cable for transferring video if you don't already have them. Whilst the usb streaming works firewire makes transferring video alot easier and quicker.
Also consider getting Sony Vegas software to edit your footage. The supplied software is enough to get you going but is somewhat limiting depending on what you want to do with your footage.
So far I haven't been disappointed with the Camera and would recommend it as worthy of being put in your wishlist at least!
Totally Disappointed - 18 Dec 2006

I bought this camera after reading the previous reviews, but I must admit I regret my decision buying Sony camcorder.
The camcorder itself is ok for that price but difficulty comes when to save the videos on computer or burn CDs. The software provided does not work. It keeps giving error messages like, IM06006 CDR drive does not exist, Picture Package failed to write or error check the connected device.
I called various times to Sony support, they refused to help, and instead keep arguing "there is nothing wrong with the camera and we do not provide support for the software".
The software company Pixella is pretty useless in providing the support.
I would recommend better not to buy this camcorder, you will regret. Also you will be very disappointed from the support from SONY.
Great Value for Money - 26 Nov 2006

This camera is great for the amount it costs, and te touch screen is excellent asit reduces e need for bulky buttons. It is incredibly lightweight and compact, idea for almost any situation.
The only trouble i have had is that the paint scratches and chips VERY easily, a day in my bag completely ruined the side.
Nice little Camera for Nice Little Price - 31 Oct 2006

This is a neat little camera and quite a change from a full-size S-VHS unit, though I shall use both - this one for convenience. I have read you should be careful mixing brands of DV tape unless you clean thoroughly each time with a cleaner tape, different lubricants affect head wear. I am using Panasonic PRO tapes and staying away from lower-grade tape. I also bought a Samsonite DFV33 case and an NP-FP90 battery from Amazon (v. good price)
It is very neat. I see even our local Police Force is being issued with Mini-DV cameras for foot patrols - the versatility of this small camera is amazing, though if I want to produce films I shall stick with the big one, this is digital and can go straight to YouTube or burn to DVD with, I hope, few problems.
The Zeiss Tessar is a nice touch - a simple lens - but nevertheless Zeiss and that is always a great name on a camera lens
